What is isolation?
Unfortunately, only a small proportion of people who have encountered a distressing experience receive professional help. Because no-one wants to have been traumatized and because persons who have experienced trauma tend to feel ashamed and guilty because they believe that they should have been able to prevent it or deal with it, they are often reluctant to share their experiences with others: friends, relatives or colleagues. This can lead to problems in social interactions, long-term strain due to insomnia and depression and also drug abuse.
Young adults and isolation
Isolation is a sign of avoiding the world due to social anxiety and depression. Young adults who isolate themselves are often plagued by feelings of loneliness and shame, and they often describe themselves as feeling more comfortable in their own private space.
Treatment of isolation
We treat teenagers and young adults who are dealing with isolation. We offer the best possible treatment in order to achieve a lasting recovery. The result is that the teenager or young adult is able to live and function in society in a pleasant way again, by slowly breaking down the wall they have built around themselves.
Our treatment is aimed to help the person who feels he or she has been shut out or rejected by the world and all its people, so they can re-engage with others.
